Shawarma House is a small, family-owned spot at 4884 Newport Ave in Ocean Beach, run hands-on by owner-operator Mathios Yonan. We cook Iraqi-Mediterranean food built on family recipes — beef and chicken slow-roasted on a vertical spit and hand-shaved to order, with sauces like toum (garlic paste), tahini, and hot sauce made fresh in-house every day. We serve a full vegan menu, too.

This is a real kitchen and counter, not a chain. You’ll work directly alongside the owner and a tight crew, learn how the food is actually made, and take pride in dishes our regulars come back for. Our guests have rated us 4.7 stars across 630+ Google reviews, and that comes from a team that cares about getting it right.

The kind of work

Most roles here fall into two areas:

• Kitchen — prep, cooking on the line, and learning the shawarma spit: slow-roasting, hand-shaving, and building plates and wraps.
• Front counter — taking orders, running the register, packing pickup and delivery, and taking care of guests.

Pay & schedule

We pay competitively based on experience, plus tips — we’ll talk specifics when we meet. We’re open 11 AM to 8 PM, seven days a week, and both full-time and part-time shifts come up. Weekend availability is a plus.
