Hours, location & contact

What are your hours?
We’re open 11 AM to 8 PM, every day — Monday through Sunday, including most holidays.
Where are you located?
We’re at 4884 Newport Ave., San Diego, CA 92107, in the heart of Ocean Beach. We’re a 5-minute drive from Mission Beach, 10 minutes from Pacific Beach, and 15 minutes from La Jolla.
Is there parking nearby?
Yes — there’s free 2-hour street parking along Newport Ave. and on the side streets surrounding the restaurant. Lot parking is also available a block over.
How do I contact you?
Call (619) 642-0298 during open hours, or email info@shawarmahousesd.com. For catering, the fastest way to get a quote is through our ezCater page.

Ordering & delivery

How do I place an online order?
Use our ORDER DIRECT link — it’s our own Toast ordering page (no aggregator markup). Pickup and delivery are both available.
Do you deliver? What’s the delivery area?
Yes. Delivery is fulfilled through Toast’s delivery partners, with typical coverage across Ocean Beach, Point Loma, Mission Beach, and Pacific Beach. Exact range and fees show at checkout. We’re also on DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub if you prefer those — but ordering direct on Toast is faster and avoids the aggregator surcharges.
What forms of payment do you accept?
All major credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay through our online ordering. In person we accept cards, contactless payment, and cash.
Do you take reservations?
We’re a casual counter-service restaurant, so we don’t take traditional reservations — walk-ins are always welcome. For groups of 10+ planning to dine in, give us a call ahead so we can have seating ready.

The food

Is your meat halal?
Yes — all of our chicken and beef are halal-sourced. We’ve kept this as a core sourcing standard since the day we opened.
What makes your shawarma different?
Three things. First, it’s a family Iraqi-Mediterranean recipe — the marinade and spice profile have been passed down, not pulled from a supplier handbook. Second, we slow-roast on a traditional vertical spit — no flat-top shortcuts — so the outside layers caramelize while the interior stays moist. Third, every order is hand-shaved off the spit the moment you order, never pre-pulled or held under a heat lamp.
Do you have vegan and vegetarian options?
Plenty. Our Vegan Shawarma, Vegan Cream Chop, and Falafel are all 100% plant-based and built on the same rice, salads, sauces, and pita as the meat plates. The Greek Salad, Fattoush, Hummus, and Tabouli are also vegetarian-friendly. House sauces (toum, tahini, hot sauce) are all made in-house and vegan.
Do you accommodate food allergies?
We do our best, but we prepare a wide variety of items in a shared kitchen, so we can’t guarantee any item is free of a specific allergen. If you have a serious allergy, please call us before ordering and we’ll walk you through what’s possible.
What kind of cuisine is this?
Iraqi-Mediterranean. Think shawarma, kebab, falafel, hummus, kibbeh, fattoush, and traditional rice — the Levantine and Mesopotamian dishes that the family grew up cooking, served the way they’re meant to be served.

Catering

Do you cater?
Yes — we do everything from small office lunches to weddings and large corporate events across San Diego. The fastest way to get a quote is our ezCater page — it’ll show you per-person pricing, minimums, and lead times. You can also call (619) 642-0298.
How much notice do you need for catering?
24-48 hours’ notice is typical for most orders. Larger events (50+ guests) and weekend slots fill up — we recommend reaching out at least a week ahead when possible.
Where do you cater?
Across the San Diego area — Ocean Beach, Mission Bay, Point Loma, La Jolla, Downtown, and surrounding neighborhoods. We have dedicated catering pages for Corporate Events, La Jolla, Mission Bay, Ocean Beach, and San Diego.
